Go Humble!

By Ryan  //  Indie, Video Games  //  No Comments

The folks over at the Humble Bundle are back with an excellent offering from Mode 7: The Humble Frozen Synapse Bundle, you get Frozen Synapse and its soundtrack. Frozen Synapse normally sells for $25 with the soundtrack selling for at least $6 by itself. The game looks great, though I haven’t played it as of yet. It currently has a metacritic score of 85 and generally favorable reviews all around.

As an added bonus, if you pay more than the going average–whic,h as of this writing, is $4.37–you will also get the Humble Frozenbyte bundle, which includes Trine, Shadowgrounds: Survivor, Shadowgrounds, a pre-order for Splot and the prototype for Jack Claw–along with most of their soundtracks. Trine is the only one of the set that I have played, but it is excellent.

If you are not familiar with the Humble Bundle, it is a “pay what you want” with no DRM, and all eligible games can be activated on Steam,  Direct2Drive, and Desura. You also get to choose where you want your money to go: Split it up evenly, give it all to charity, or give it all to the developers. All in all, it is a great deal and goes to support some great causes. You do need to act fairly quickly, though, the bundle is only available until 12 October 2011.

The Lifeforce Project

By Ryan  //  Lifeforce, Personal Projects  //  No Comments

One of the projects that I am working on with Mike and Jared is what we are calling “Lifeforce” for the time being. We had our first play test on Thursday last week and it went really well. For this session, Jared acted as the GM and our players were Mike, Vaugn (Mike’s Brother-in-Law) and Jeremy (one of our co-workers here at NinjaBee).

The United States Supreme Court

After years of legal fun, the Supreme Court ruled against California’s law to restrict sale of violent video games to minors yesterday. While I am glad that this was the outcome, I don’t think that the ruling itself is the most interesting thing to come out of the case. read more

I’m not dead yet…

By Ryan  //  Life Updates  //  No Comments

Wow. So many plans to do something with this site and here I am months later with nothing to show for it. Not that this has been entirely due to sloth, however. We have had a rather exciting time with illness, jobs and our business. Anyhow, I’m not sure whether to say that things have begun to settle or that I have finally reached the point where I don’t feel like I can put this off any longer.

That being said, I plan on getting more content up here. I have a few projects–both at work and personally–that will make it on here. I can’t say too much yet, but should be able to soon. So with that, I bid you adieu, and shall continue packing for our move next week.
